New three-year association with Camerata Pacifica

Ian is delighted to be beginning an official 3-year association with California’s Camerata Pacifica (www.cameratapacifica.org).

This leading American chamber ensemble is commissioning three works over the next three years, and the first, a new version for violin and 13 instruments of Ian’s first violin concerto, Messenger, has just been finished.

This work will receive its premiere in May ’07 with five performances in California and an international tour is in preparation for the following year. The other two works are a major piece for flute and piano, Heft, and a substantial multi-movement work for soprano and ensemble based on a Seamus Heaney poem.
