Una Santa Oscura project gets go-ahead

The Arts Council has awarded Ian funding to create Una Santa Oscura, a multi-media project inspired by aspects of the life of the 12th-century nun, mystic and composer, Hildegard of Bingen, involving violinist Ioana Petcu-Colan and theatre director Tom Creed. This will be rather like an opera with no singers in which the violinist takes the central role. The 45-minute work will include live violin performed against an electronic backdrop that Wilson will create in a collaboration with Jurgen Simpson and the staged performances in late 2009 will include costume, stage design and live video projection.
